Radiation All Around Us
Who: Residents of Fukushima, Japan. TEPCO (Tokyo Electrical Power Company), Local and Central Japanese gov, 160,00 resident ordered to evacuate. Hiroshi Saito (71) & Wife, Terue (68) as the primary source. Nobuyoshi Ito, a farmer, as a secondary source.
What: Daiichi nuclear plant explosions. Radiation levels post March 2011. Pollution and invisible contamination of homes, rich farm land, and forests. A desperate government trying to lower levels of microsieverets per year/hr and re-occupy evacuated areas.
Where: At resident Hiroshi's home, outskirts of Minamisoma. Minamisoma is the an unrecovered city near the power plant.
When: March 2011 up to present.
Why: The natural disasters of March 11, 2011 effect the plant. Why people haven't returned is because of the high radiation levels.
How: The events of March 11th, led to a power surge, effecting the cooling and control systems of the plant.
So What? Costs hundreds of millions of dollars + to clean. There are many refugees still. Are governments and companies doing enough? Estimated $50 billion U.S dollars to fix. And this does effect our lives, we are exposed to radiation every day and we don't think twice because we still have everything but those residents in Japan lost it all.
