New York Sex-Trade Related Cases to get own set of Courts

New York plans on creating a new set of courts dealing with the prostitution, child abuse, and human and sex-trafficking cases, as well as prostitution. This isn't the first state to create a set of courts specifically for these kinds of cases, and 11 new courts will be created just to deal with cases like this. 5 of these courts will be built in all 5 boroughs and 6 from Long Island to Buffalo. Luckily, setting up these courts won't cost tax payers any more money, and will deal with the children who are impacted by abuse, sex trafficking, or any other cases that, according to State Chief Justice Lippman says are "commonly overlooked, misunderstood, and unaddressed forms of child abuse."
Some states have made it that children under the age of consent can be charged with prostitution, rather than being treated as victims.

Death of Lewis Marnell

This article covers the death of Lewis Marnell, a prominent skateboarder.  He passed away due to hypoglemic reaction caused by type 1 diabetes.  Officials say that Marnell was found dead in his home in Australia on January 18th, 2013.  This story heavily impacted the skateboarding community because Marnell was only 30.  I choose this article because it distinctly gives the reader a history of Marnell’s life rather than solely commenting on his death.  The article briefly describes his childhood, his struggle with diabetes, and his rise to fame in skateboarding through various sponsors.  This article also contains a tribute video capturing the intensity Marnell possessed while skating.

This story contains 3 media components which are print, video, and interaction.  The print aspect vividly explains the cause of his death and the reaction of family and friends.  This information is essential because it is able to give readers an inside look into the type of person that Marnell was.  Therefore people are able to connect to the story on an emotional level.  The video is able to show how passionate Marnell was about skateboarding.  The video is crucial because the readers are able to see Marnell’s laid back persona and lovable character.  Without the video the story would simply be mundane and lifeless.  The interactive part of the article is very important.  Through the use of social media and the internet people were able to hear about Marnell’s death before it was officially posted.  The news was first released via Twttier and quickly spread until Redbull, Espn, The Berrics, and transworld were able to post it officially.  The Redbull website contained different icons to share, “like”, comment or message the story to different people or sites such as Facebook or Twitter.  Once the news of Marnell’s death leaked his twitter was flooded with comments and questions.

When I read this story I was highly distraught because I was a huge fan of Marnell’s skateboarding ability.  I thought the article was written well and gave people a great idea of who Lewis Marnell was.  From explaining his childhood to his death this story was well put together.  it also gave a list of different companies Marnell was sponsored by such as: Nike SB, Almost Skateboards, Volcom, and RedBull. The video showed many highlights of his career that I’ve already seen but beautifully displayed his talent in one compilation.   Being able to share the story and comment is very important.  I was able to see everyone’s reaction and really see how many people appreciated such an iconic figure in skateboarding. The only aspect of the story I would change is interviewing other skaters with diabetes.  Therefore the people are able to see the severity of this

Radiation All Around Us

Who: Residents of Fukushima, Japan. TEPCO (Tokyo Electrical Power Company), Local and Central Japanese gov, 160,00 resident ordered to evacuate. Hiroshi Saito (71) & Wife, Terue (68) as the primary source. Nobuyoshi Ito, a farmer, as a secondary source.

What: Daiichi nuclear plant explosions. Radiation levels post March 2011. Pollution and invisible contamination of homes, rich farm land, and forests. A desperate government trying to lower levels of microsieverets per year/hr and re-occupy evacuated areas.

Where: At resident Hiroshi's home, outskirts of Minamisoma. Minamisoma is the an unrecovered city near the power plant.

When: March 2011 up to present.

Why: The natural disasters of March 11, 2011 effect the plant. Why people haven't returned is because of the high radiation levels.

How: The events of March 11th, led to a power surge, effecting the cooling and control systems of the plant.

So What? Costs hundreds of millions of dollars + to clean. There are many refugees still. Are governments and companies doing enough? Estimated $50 billion U.S dollars to fix. And this does effect our lives, we are exposed to radiation every day and we don't think twice because we still have everything but those residents in Japan lost it all.

Fan Violence

Who? A fan was killed after the Giants and Dodgers game.

where? AT&T Park in San Francisco, California

What? The Fan was stabbed to death due to fan violence between two rival teams.

When? September 25, 2013

Why? Fan Violence is dangerous, last year a man was almost beaten to death. Ironically, this was the same match-up the fan was beaten to death.

So what? People shouldn't kill each other over a game, it's disturbing to see these events holding as a fan myself.

*(This project is partially supported by a grant from Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour, a program developed and funded by The Heinz Endowments; the William Penn Foundation; the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency; and The Pew Charitable Trusts; and administered
by Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation.)
Tickets are $22 (general admission), $20 (students/seniors/fac-staff), and $16 (children under 13).

Ballet X seems like a wonderful event that is coming to our very own Academic Arts Theater. However, a few questions come to mind when such event is taking place in our very own Academic Arts Theater.
-Where is money coming from to support such event?
-How much is the event costing the school?
-Who choses what events to bring to campus and which ones not to?
-Why are tickets so expensive?
-What is it that students are suppose to get out of such event?

It has been to my knowledge that every registered student has a fee of $10 for a little something called "Smart Arts". Now considered all the registered students that are in Westchester Community College and its extension center, its a big chunk of money. But do you ever wonder what that money goes to? And what is "Smart Arts" after all? It has also been said that the fee for Smart Arts is used to pay such events like Ballet X. But what are the number after all?

How Diverse is our campus?

I wanted to explore the demographics of our campus, to see how diverse we are compared to how diverse we were a few years ago.

Who: I will see how diverse our campus is by looking at the different ethnic groups.

what: i want to know how diverse our campus is today.

Where: i will at the demographic of the Westchester community college campus.

Why: As a perspective student two years ago the diversity of the campus mattered when i applied. I would like to know how diverse we are becoming and why or why diversity is decreasing.

So what: Their are many benefits to having a diverse campus http://www.usnews.com/education/blogs/professors-guide/2009/08/12/why-does-diversity-matter-at-college-anyway and sometimes the diversity of a campus could be the deciding factor of whether a perspective student applies or not.

No Chess on Campus?

Discover the dangerous World of on Campus Chess

Is WCC worried about marauding gangs of chess players taking over our campus?  Is the violence of the chessboard what is causing the campus rampaging in today world?  Being brought up with powerful Kings and Queens tearing down walls of pawns and toppling the bishops.  Why does WCC have rules against chess on campus?   On our student center walls are notes saying we are not allowed to play board games, including chess on campus.  1st off when was the last time you saw someone with a board game under their arm and second off wouldn't we rather our students were focused on a strategy game then just sitting around?

New York City or New York Citi?

New York City, always busy always moving might have found a new adventure for everyone. Citi Bikes is now the talk of the big apple! A program Sponsored by Citi Bank that provides bikes all over Manhattan for city friends to use 24 hours everyday of the week. Make your commute less boring, make your visit less planned, grab a bike and let the peddaling take you around New York Citi

Citi bikes are available anywhere from East Village to the Financial District and even to Brooklyn Heights. These stations are located everywhere in between these parts of the city. All you have to do is pay a fee, $10 for a 24 day pass, or pay a low monthly fee to access whenever and wherever you go. Once you unlock the bike you have as many hours as you paid for to put it in good use.

Why you ask? Why not! Instead of  paying for an overly expensive cab ride (with not to mention uncomfortable bumpy ride) while sitting in traffic, take your bike and make the city views bolder and brighter. Besdies the amazing views you get front row, or should I say bike row seat, you have access to grab a bike and put them back at stations almost at every corner. Don't forget about the amazing workout you get going from point A to point B.

My Experience
I have to admit, I am probably the worst New Yorker. It took me until this year to actually go out and find some awesome cool adventure out in NYC ,like the ones that are usually reccomended on the Travel Channel or in those super thick tourist guides that fold into a tiny brochure but when you open it you can't even hold the thing because it's so wide. Well yea, I fortunetly didn't use any of these as my guide. I was actually taking one of my friends who came to visit me in NY out for a stroll in the city. My typical stroll? from Grand Central to Times Square into all the stores on the strip, Forever 21, Sephora, American Eagle.. you name it. Then afterwards 5th ave, and if we're not to lazy possibly Central Park (is that bad?) I mean I'm a New Yorker you would think I know the city pretty well, but all I know is the basics. We saw so many people on these bright blue bikes with the Citi Bike logo on them, that would ride around with their little bells, ringing them to warn us walkers they were coming through. So obviously we were curious, we asked around and they told us that there was a station where we could rent these cool rides. Needless to say, 10 minutes later we were on our way peddling through the entire city, I kid you not. These bikes had Apps that we were able to download on our phones to show us the routes in which we could ride to. We ended up biking all the way to the Brooklyn Bridge (A sight I've never been to until now) then after that brethtaking stroll, we rode around in style through SoHo stopping at times to take in gorgeous NY. Although this wasn't a planned out tour of the city, these bikes made it feel like it. I was my own tourist, not only did I see new views but I also found that these bikes are actually super helpful for usual commuters in the city. There are so many ways that these bikes could benefit people of New York. Grab a bike, have some fun, and let the bike do the talking.

Fashion Week Sports Report: Athletic looks are the winners at Milan spring shows

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/26/fashion/the-fashion-week-sports-report.html

Who- Vera Wang was on to the sports trend back in New York. Marc Jacobs also had the right shoes for it with his Teva style Sandals.

What- Athletic looks are the winners at the Milan Spring shows. One unifying theme of the Milan collections was that it was all over the place which was sports. Athletics mesh fabrics showed up in insets on the back of dresses or layered underneath them; and variations of modified tracksuits appeared in surprising numbers. A W magazine editor named Giovanna Battaglia had showed up on a Saturday in a Bogetta Veneta show in a Junya wannabe dress that would have been great for running a marathon.

When- The show took place on a Monday.

Where- Milan

Why- I think the event took place to show people a different side of the fashion world. I also think it took place to show people that its ok to have your own style, be unique  and set your own trends even if their considered popular.

So What- Frida Giannini of Gucci made a statement saying that tracksuits can go from day to evening. The Actress Blake Lively who attended the show borrowed Look number 38 for the party the next night. She said that she thought it was cool because it looked very evening but comfortable.

Todd Helton Retiring!

Topic for Story: The Career and Retirement of Todd Helton

Who: Todd Helton 1B Colorado Rockies
What: He is retiring at the end of the year; a look-back at his career achievements.
Where/When: 16 years playing first base for the same Colorado Rockies.
Why: He is one of my favorite players and although other 2013 retirees may be stealing the spotlight, this guy deserves a share of it.

So What?: Even though they don't have so much of a long history, Todd Helton is probably the name you will always think of when someone mentions the Colorado Rockies and is probably the best ball player in their franchise's history.

Costa Concordia MMJ Assignment #1

About 20 months ago, a horrible tragedy happened when the Costa Concordia hit a land patch and sunk over to its side and killed over 30 people and had displaced the passengers and crew members and also had the captain abandon ship.  The article in the link above is a CNN article describing what has been in the ship for 20 months.  There has been spilled oil, rotten food and furniture floating around the water.  It’s also believed that 2 more bodies that haven’t been found are still in the ship.   The strength of print article describes what’s on the ship with the use of imagination and I wouldn't change anything about this article.

The Preservation of Dying Resources Begins With Your Awareness

It’s so simple to start of your morning with a cup of coffee from a plastic, paper or Styrofoam cup and then to throw the empty cup away. Little do a lot of people know that the remnants of those cups have more value to them than what people credit these factory-made sources to have. There are many options to recycle unwanted resources that a consumer hasn’t any use for anymore. However, why is it that recycling bins are nearly vacant and trash bins are overflowing? Apathy is the true culprit of trash as opposed to the wasted resources that end up in the landfills. A project called “The Story of Stuff” is a project that focuses on the wasteful ways of the American masses. It touches on how the products we buy are used and tossed out within a matter of weeks to days to minutes within the general public. The website of this project, storyofstuff.org, has many short films that are available to make the uninformed, informed and make the apathetic possibly care a little bit more. My pitch is going to be about how people can better the environment. How people can be aware of how many resources are becoming scarce and what people can do to prevent this fate from occurring. The curious may begin here: http://www.storyofstuff.org/

Hip Hop Mogul loses $1M to Rapper

My article was a pop culture article in the Hip Hop industry about the Hip Hop mogul, Diddy (on right), gambling and losing $1 million to rapper Rick Ross (left). I found the text of the article to be strong because it gave the readers the full story as to what happened in this gamble over what seemed to be pocket change to these Hip Hop giants. The video was a strong form of media in this article because it uses a popular form of social media. It’s also strong because it draws the viewers in with the appearance of celebrities. It gives the audience something they want to see: the way celebrities act in their down time. The ability to comment on the article is very effective because it lets readers leave feedback and share their thoughts on the story. It also lets other members comment or like comments left by previous members leaving potential for short term discussions. All together these three media were prominent in grabbing the audience’s attention and keeping them interested. If I could change anything about this article it would be the video that was used. I would have personally wanted to make a video and possibly interview the two about the bet. The video used in the article was not made by the article writer but provided by them by using one ofthe rapper’s social media accounts.

I am not responsible for what other people have commented.

Fatal Distress by Aaron Alexis

The devastating murder of 12 people by gunman, Aaron Alexis, last Monday came as a shock to us all. Yet, there has been speculations on how he obtained security clearance specially after having a troubled past.  And more so, what led the 34 yeard old to take such drastic measures.
http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/17/us/navy-yard-shooting-main/index.html?hpt=hp_t1
After the “2004 blackout”, when Alexis fired his gun into two Honda Accord tires near his home in Seattle and  was later charged for malicious mischief. The “2008 nightclub Arrest”  in  a metro Atlanta club for damaging the club’s property and failing to listen to police orders to stop, and again was arrested for disorderly conduct. The “2010 gunfire” incident where he accidently shoot the gun while cleaning it, where he was never charged. The “Navy Discharge of 2011” for insubordination, disorderly conduct, and even unauthorized absences from work. And finally, last months “Microwave” allegations where Alexis told police, unseen individuals spoke to him through walls using some sort of “microwave” machine that allowed vibrations to penetrate threw his body and prevented him to sleep. Were all overlooked episodes that granted Alexis security clearance.

In the CNN report above, I found that there was three very helpful ways of multimedia Journalism. There was Audio, one could certainly use some headphones to listen to the shooting that took place at the Naval Yard with no problem. Sometimes time is limited and being on top of every news story is also quite difficult. But with websites like CNN or Democracy Now, it has become easier and easier to stay on top of current events. On my commute to Westchester Community College I have nearly 2 hours that I am just sitting in a car driving. Being able to listen to news reports, like I would on television not only take away the “not knowing” but it certainly makes my commute more enjoyable. In this webpage, there was also Video.  There are certainly various reports that one could watch if they were on a lunch break or wanted to see graphics of what was happening. You can really understand by simply seeing the devastating faces of the victims that surrounded the Naval Yard.  Furthermore let’s say you wanted a follow up of what’s going on, now you can have the latest story or new information be given to you without the need to be stuck in front of a TV screen. What I also liked about this article is that it also includes print. It’s not like YouTube that has a bunch of videos lined up. Sometimes, I forget my headphones or my auxiliary cord at home and I don’t want everyone else to listen to what I am watching on my cell phone, so being able to read about what has just happened is ideal. And not just me but everyone can certainly read about what exactly happened if they did not have headphones, or did not want to watch a news report. And lastly, for those tweeters and bloggers, there is a degree of interaction going on here that ties in different types of social media. One could certainly blog about this, add the link to their Facebook, make comments, tumble about it, etc.  What is really nice about sources like CNN.com is that it is a one stop for all, informative site. And I think with evolving technology and surpassing the year for apps, soon we will have cars that naturally carry Wi-Fi and will keep us all up to date.

Everyone on Earth is Related to Everyone Else

We have been told that our DNA is our identity and through this genome, we can learn about a person’s genetic information. From C.S.I. television shows to the FBI, DNA testing has found the identity of thousands if not millions of different people. It is quite remarkable that such a tiny piece of information could tell so much about an individual. However, scientists are finding out we aren’t so different after all. Many studies have been made to perfect this theory but it’s clearly something to watch out for in the near future. It isn’t as rare anymore to find individuals with mixed blood types, especially twins.

The New York Times article, “DNA DoubleTake” was a very interesting article that brought my attention. It definitely had knowledgeable information and interesting oversights. Our world is changing and science is changing with it. The site is very interactive with its very own comment section where anyone can share the article. There are also several hyperlinks on the webpage linking to other websites, news articles, etc. Right when you open to the page, a big image takes up half the screen. On the sides there are diagrams of parts of the human body. These graphic images are displayed to show genetic mutations that are found in specific areas of the human body and not found in others. There are only a number of them compared to the amount of people living on this planet today.

Print makes you imagine what is on the page. There is no clear-cut image of what something or someone is supposed to look like and everyone can have their own perspective. It is also very portable and handy. I can take a book or my kindle anywhere I wanted and sit down and enjoy myself. Images, is much like video where everything is viewed instantaneously. That imagination factor is gone because you are able to see everything on the screen for what it is. Images and video have that kind of connection with the audience that print does not. That old saying, “A picture says a thousand words” really is true and people try and decode its messages. Also, the interactivity of the website is very important because it gets people engaged with the material. People can share; link or just talk about the certain article which not only brings publicity but it is on command and people can get it right then. They also like innovation. That element of people doing or getting “the cool new thing” has been keeping others occupied to find something trendy, new and never done before. A necessity of today.

Between the print and the imagery I couldn’t personally decide which one was better. They both had their own advantages and disadvantages but regarding the article the complement each other nicely. The images can be used as a “fall back” to the reading and vice versa. The information can be used together. It is amazing to conclude that we have come so far in technology that science has soared off the roof.  Whether it is good or bad, no one would have ever guessed it. Although we might have all the technology that we could possibly think of, scientists are proceeding cautiously because this is a new world we might be entering. DNA testing might not be as accurate as we once thought. The question is what’s next? If we cannot use DNA testing to identify people, then what will be the “cool new thing” that replaces it? What I would have appreciated more would be some kind of slideshow or video related to the topic of DNA and its complexity that make us unique in one way and similar in others.

The Little ship that could.

Voyager 1 Goes Where No Man-made Object Has Gone Before.

Image #1 Voyager 1 IMAGE BY JPL

On September 5th 1977 I was 22 years old, and the spacecraft Voyager 1 (Image #1) left Earth on its voyage to explore Saturn and Jupiter.  The ship photographed Jupiter from January until April 1979, then it moved on to explore Saturn.  In November 1980 the Radio Telescope flew by Saturn exploring the rings and moons of the planet, but it's trip had just begun.

The little ship that could, continued on it's mission, alone, without a specific goal. Traveling through the dark emptiness of space with no other goal than to keep going.  On a lonely night in February 1990, the Voyager 1 sent its last picture, a portrait of the solar system it has called home.

Image # 2 Family Portrait

Twelve and a half years after leaving mother earth it sent us a picture of our little family of planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus.  Little did the Voyager 1 spacecraft know that Pluto had been divorced from the family and demoted to a dwarf planet.  But the little ship just kept going on and on into unexplored space and sped towards the stars.

Years pass, the coldness is everywhere, no sunlight because our star is just a distant dot in the sky. it is now 36 years since the little ship left earth.  Almost 19 billion miles from home and entering into that area between the stars in the vastness of space called Interstellar space.

On September 12th 2013, Researchers confirmed Thursday (Sept. 12) that the spacecraft had has officially moved into interstellar space.  Farther than any man made object has ever gone.  Temperatures at minus 400 degrees fahrenheit with nothing in front of it but distant stars. (See Link "Pale Blue Dot 2" below)

Alone but not alone.  We have sent our hopes and dreams that other life forms traveling these great distances may find our little ship that could.  Onboard the little spacecraft that could we included a Golden Record.  A way to tell another civilization about our little planet in the depths of space. We are Spinning around our little point of light and heat, going on and on with little more goal than Voyager, to just keep going on.  But no, our goals are much higher.  As the astronomerastrophysicistcosmologist Carl Sagan noted" The spacecraft will be encountered and the record played only if there are advanced space-faring civilizations in interstellar space. But the launching of this 'bottle' into the cosmic 'ocean' says something very hopeful about life on this planet."  We have moved beyond the limits of our solar system and into the space between the stars.

5 days ago ... Voyager 1 is now officially in interstellar space, but doesn't mean NASA can't see the far-flung spacecraft. See a photo of NASA's Voyager 1 ...

You said what about my mama?

For multimedia news analysis I chose a story about a pretty unique obituary, one written for a mother of 6. Her name was Marianna Johnson-Reddick, who resided in Reno, and she was quite an abusive mother. One that abused her children so badly that they wished to shame her using her very obituary in their local news. The stories from her offspring even created state legislature for parent emancipation in Nevada. I found this article on this website for the Huffington Post, which I reached from a link from AOL.com. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/13/marianne-theresa-johnson-reddick-obit_n_3921058.html?1379088680&icid=maing-grid7|main5|dl4|sec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D374881#next_slideshow.
This article had had the most strength in print, video, and online capabilities. The print was the best in my opinion. Simply because the article was well written and had direct quotes from the children and the obituary it self. Something this serious is almost impossible to fully duplicate in text. Child abuse and neglect is one of those things that is different on too many levels to be either black or white for people. Some might say that spanking your child is abuse, while other people are in favor of a good beating every now and then. When is it too far? When is it just downright evil? Apparently this woman was evil. This is a quote pulled from the article about her, “Everyone she met, adult or child was tortured by her cruelty and exposure to violence, criminal activity, vulgarity, and hatred of the gentle or kind human spirit," the obit said. "Our greatest wish now is to stimulate a national movement that mandates a purposeful and dedicated war against child abuse in the United States of America.” A great amount of detail, and emotions go hand in hand with those statements made. Even though the statements where more positioned to shame child abuse more than the mother. You cant help but see the passion and the importance of their words. A picture is worth a thousand words, but a thousand words might help you see it better.
The videos themselves were ok. They were shot by Newsy, an online multi-source news site. It sums up the article giving a few extra tid-bits not in the print. The video samples two of the big quotes, including the one I have. Hearing the quotes read by someone else besides your brain might make you retain the information differently. Other than that it was basically a synopsis. Of course you couldn’t have left out the comment about having 13 cats though, it adds a slight bit of humor but still remains a serious video. On the other hand the second video near the bottom seemed to be questioning the children themselves, at one point the host saying that “they are everything except upset at the mothers death.” It was also stated that the date of death was incorrect when published in the paper. Less was said about child abuse in the second video which seemed strange. There where no pictures of the mother in either video, yet there was a picture of the son and daughter who wrote the obituary. The only other piece was a small portion of an interview with Sue Wagner a former Lieutenant Governor who ruled in the children’s case giving them the right to emancipate from the mom.
Capability wise, it was almost overwhelming. The entire right side of the site is covered in other links. There is even a “Weird News” tab that pops out with a link to a random story. The first one I got was about a European woman on a quest to mate with 100,000 men. There was also a giant box in the center with a cornucopia of slide shows, the first consisting of questionable parents and their actions to be accused as one. Then underneath are links to more videos like Nelson Mandela’s obituary. Most of the links refer to crimes and criminals and a couple of other related videos. One reason I selected this particular story was because of all the comments it had. I wanted to see the reactions of people and find out how many of the opinions were alike. Most of the comments favored the children. I found a select few that thought that even though the mother committed such acts that the children should still give the mother respect, at least in her obituary. Besides comments there was the usual array of links for Facebook and twitter and even Google plus. It was very easy to get distracted and wonder away from the original site. I even found a story about a washed up dead dragon in Spain.
If I was to change anything I would have made a better video. I know it must have been hard to get that interview with ms. Wagner, but I would have liked to see one of the children. Both videos were largely the same just with a couple of different ideas put in. I think a single strong video would have been better. I would also try and not have so much clouding the article, there were just too many other links and stories to even pay attention. The ads before the videos were also annoying, you had to watch the whole thing before even seeing it. Other than that it was a good article. It was different than your average news break of finding out who looked better in the same dress, or a Kardashian. It is a topic that is not talked about enough and more light should be brought to it. So just remember to give your mom a hug next time she makes you pancakes for breakfast.

How bullying can affect someone's life

A sad and shocking story out of Florida helped me see the potential of multimedia journalism. A girl named Rebecca Ann Sedwick was bullied for months and committed suicide. The reason why I chose this story is because I want people to be aware of the incident. The girls that bullied her constantly are not aware of how their actions affected someone else's life. They may have thought it was funny then but it's not now. There were fifteen girls that were involved in this situation ganging up on her threatening her with words like you should die and why don't you die. I felt like those words were inappropriate to say to someone. You should never wish death on anybody because there's no coming back from that. There may be times when you feel sad, angry not wanted or like the whole world is against you but suicide is never the answer. I feel like if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say nothing at all. I can honestly relate to Rebecca's situation because I was bullied myself so I know what its like to be the underdog. I feel sorry for Rebecca's mother because she was really traumatized by what happened. In the video she was in tears crying and everything. It was hard for her to even speak because she couldn't deal with it. I wish Rebecca's mother the best because I know that life is going to be different for her now that her daughters gone. I mean if anything you would want to go before your child does. I think its a shame that this whole thing happened which started over a boyfriend issue. Most of the time situations like this happen where girls end up fighting each other or commit suicide because of a boy. You hear about it a lot on the news. This situation just goes to show you never judge a book by its cover because you never know a persons story.

The three media components that I think are successful are print, video and interactive.

I feel like the print of the article is important because it talks about a 12 year old girl named Rebecca Ann Sedwick who was bullied everyday consistently. Fifteen girls were engaged in this activity ganging up on her threatening her with words like you should die and why don’t you die. Rebecca couldn’t take it anymore so she changed one of her online screen names to That Dead Girl. She had messaged a boy in North Carolina saying I’m jumping so then the next day she went to an abandoned concrete plant area and hurled to her death. I feel like the video is important because it sends a message about a young girl who was bullied over nonsense. The whole thing started over a boyfriend issue where Rebecca was suspended for fighting with a girl who used to be her friend. She was also hospitalized three days after cutting her wrists from what she said was bullying. Rebecca said that she was pushed in the hallway and that a girl wanted to fight her, so her mother began homeschooling her. I think this video just goes to show you that you never know a person’s situation. That’s why you should never judge people because you never know their story. You never know how a person’s feeling inside. You never know if their angry or depressed. I know that there may be times when you feel angry, feel like the underdog, not wanted or feel like whole worlds against you but committing suicide is never the answer. Tommorrow’s never promised. I feel like the interactivness is important because when the whole bullying was going on Rebecca’s mom deleted her facebook account. Her mom was unaware that she was still using other social network sites such as kik etc to keep in touch with friends. The video also shows how Rebecca’s death affected her friends and family especially her mom.

The strengths of print, video and interactive. The strengths of print shows how detailed the article is and how it gives examples of Rebecca’s experience. The article is definitely backed up with clear facts. The strength of the video is good because it shows Rebecca’s friends and families concern after her death. The video was very informative. The strengths of the interactivness is good because it showed people’s concern for Rebecca’s death.

No there is no media coverage that I would add or change. All three media components were informative and some how all related to each other.
